This money was deposited by the Police Department in accordance with Article 3, Section 50050 of the Government Code. According to Government Code provisions, money that remains unclaimed for three years may become the property of the City after certain advertising requirements are met. If no claim is made for the monies after proper notification as required by Government Code section 50050, the unclaimed money may become the property of the City on a designated date not less than 45 days nor more than 60 days after the first publication of the notice. The City gave public notice of the unclaimed monies in the Star News on January 19 and 26, 2018. The amount of $923 is now eligible for transfer to the General Fund, pursuant to Government Code section 50053.
