SUMMARY
Accepting this grant will enhance the City's household hazardous waste (HHW) program with the installation of more convenient collection sites for household batteries and single-use gas cylinders, which complements services provided by the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Facility at the Public Works Yard, 1800 Maxwell Road.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The Development Services Director has reviewed the proposed project for compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and has determined that the project qualifies for a Class 8 categorical exemption pursuant to Section 15308 (Actions by Regulatory Agencies for Protection of the Environment) of the State CEQA Guidelines because the grant will be used develop a collection system and to place collection containers at various locations and businesses. Thus, no further environmental review is necessary. Although environmental review is not necessary at this time, once the location for the collection containers has been determined, environmental review will be required and a CEQA determination completed prior to installing the container.
