SUMMARY
On October 14, 2015 the Director of Public Works received 3 sealed bids for the "Roof Replacement at Chula Vista Animal Care Facility" project. The work includes removal, disposal and replacement of the roof for the main building, the tower section, and auxiliary buildings 1 and 2 at the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility at 130 Beyer Way, Chula Vista, CA.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The Project qualifies for a Class 1 Categorical Exemption pursuant to Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) of the California Environmental Quality Act State Guidelines.

DISCUSSION
The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility was built in 2001. The building is approximately 8300 square feet with offices and medical facilities and additional out buildings and kennel spaces.

The roof is 14 years old, exceeding its useful life of 10 years. The facility has had on-going roof leaks for several years, and the numbers of leaks have increased to the point where they are affecting the business operations at the Animal Care Facility. Several repairs have been attempted to slow or stop the leaks, but they continue to grow in numbers. The project would remove and replace the roof for the main building, the tower section, auxiliary buildings 1 and 2. The new roof to be installed will have a useful life of 20 years.
