INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS TO FILL ALL 16 SEATS FOR INITIAL TERMS ON THE MEASURE P CITIZENS’ OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
Interviews of all nominees were scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, and Thursday, March 2, 2017. Appointments will be made at the conclusion of interviews at the March 2 meeting. No appointments will be made on February 28.
At the February 21, 2017 City Council Meeting, the following individuals received two or more nominations to be interviewed for the At-Large Member seats:
- At-Large Member - District 1 Representative: Jose Doria, Hector Martinez, Shauna Stokes, Joshua Summers and Paula Whitsell
- At-Large Member - District 2 Representative: Monica Bonilla, Paul Crawford, Mona Freels, Steven Pavka and Christopher Redo
- At-Large Member - District 3 Representative: Martin Calvo and Jason Prater
Applicants for the At-Large Member- District 4 Representative Seat to be interviewed:
- At-Large Member - District 4 Representative: Abel Cordero, Ruben Osorio, Christopher Sheridan

At its February 21, 2017 meeting, pursuant to Chula Vista Municipal Code section 2.61.060, the City Council made its nominations for the Measure ‘P’ Citizens’ Oversight Committee “At-Large” seats and set the date and time to interview these nominees as well as the “Designated Member” applicants who were nominated by the designated Nominating Authorities as prescribed by Chula Vista Municipal Code section 2.61.050.
The Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce is one of the Nominating Authorities, and it nominated Steve Miesen, who has since withdrawn his application. The City Clerk requested that the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce submit new nominations. At the time of publication, the new nominee information and application had not been received. The nomination(s) is expected to be received Friday, February 24, and the application(s) is due Monday February 27, 2017. The application(s) will be provided to the Council and the name made publicly available at that time.
